  • Hello,

Currently, our plugin stores some data in its logs when a user downloads a file. You, as the website owner, can already completely disable the logs.

The new version also provides an option to either not track the IP address or track only an anonymized IP address. By doing so, Download Monitor will no longer track any privacy-sensitive data but you will still be able to save some non-sensitive information in the log.

I hope this answers your questions.

Thank you. Is all I have to do, setting “IP Address Logging” to “Store anonymized IP address”?
What logs do I have to disable?
I’m gonna need some detailed explanations here.

    Hey flizzywp,

We do not have any detailed guide about this yet (we are working on it), but yes, just choosing “Store anonymized IP address” is enough to be GDPR compliant.

    Hey flizzywp,

I’d like to correct the previous statement. We, as a plugin, can not make your website GDPR compliant. Since version 4.1 we offer a wider range of options on what information you’d like to store. So our plugin does offer you control on what it stores so you can use that in the various parts you need to do to become GDPR compliant. Please note that this is not legal advise.

    Kind Regards,

I am not talking about making my website GDPR compliant with the plugin (obviously, I am not a huge idiot). I talk about getting the plugin itself GDPR compliant as a single component.
