    I would like to know, if the News?eter Plugin is due to the European Data Protection Law.

    STC saves the email address together with the selected taxonomies. Nothing else is saved.

    You have to decide yourselve how this relates to the Dataprotection Laws in your country.
    If this is the case then your site needs to inform the user of such.

    first of all, thanks for quick reply.

    Is there an option, to create an extra field, in which I can add a disclaimer text and a mandatory checkbox?

    No, but there are plenty of plugins that will do that for you on the site level. Again it is not a thing that belongs in the plugin
