    Hello,

I’ve read the few threads here on GDPR, and it’s great that MailMunch has a consent checkbox; however, I’m not entirely sure it’s helpful for two very big reasons:

    1. Even when the user checks the box on the form and the timestamp is recorded in MailMunch, it is NOT added to the user’s profile in MailChimp. If we create our segments based on this information in MC, these customers would be filtered out.
    • Related to #1, if we ever stop using the MailMunch plugin, we will also lose the GDPR timestamp since that only lives in MailMunch….as far as I can tell. Personally, I prefer to own my customers’ information.
    • So, have I misunderstood anything, or is this the way it is? Thanks!

    Hi @sandeld,

Mapping a MailMunch consent field with your MailChimp list Consent field is currently not possible. MailChimp API currently does not support this feature. This is not a limitation on our end but a limitation with MailChimp API.

Since you have gathered consent through MailMunch from your subscribers to receive promotional material, sending this material from a different platform like MailChimp should not have any affect since the material is still coming from you. I would however recommend confirming it from your GDPR compliance team.

We are keeping a close eye on MailChimp API regarding consent field restriction and as soon as they allow this field to be mapped with a third party form field, we will incorporate this change on our platform as well.
