General HTTP error: 404 not found

    Hello

    I went to Google’s webmaster’s tools page.

    I checked via sitemaps if my sitemap was running ok. It came back with:

    /page-sitemap.xml

    Error

    We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

    General HTTP error: 404 not found

    Google for some reason can’t find it.

    Have you submitted the index: sitemap_index.xml?
    Is .htaccess enabled for your domain?

    Hi Gerard

    I have resubmitted the sitemap via the Google Webmasters Tool Dashboard.

    .htaccess file is there and working. I typed ‘TEST’ on the first line of the htaccess file and got a 500 error when I tried to load the webpage.

    Just checked about 5 mins ago and all apperas to working fine.

    The re-submit worked a treat.
