General instability

  • I would really like to use this plugin, but my testing so far leads me to believe that the product simply is not stable enough to rely on. Here’s what I found so far:

    1) After I installed it, I created some sub-directories, added a pdf document with some categories and tags. I was able to download and preview the doc, but when I clicked on Goto Post, I got a “page not found” type of error. Other than that, it seemed to be working okay.

    2) After making some changes to the site, suddenly I noticed that the Goto Post option started working!

    3) After making some other changes to the site, I suddenly and without warning started to get the dreaded “faulty nonce” error. I tried several ways to get rid of the error, e.g., deactivating all the other plugins, logging out and logging in again. Nothing worked.

    4) I deleted everything I had created with the plugin and then deactivated, deleted and reinstalled the plugin, and then re-loaded the pdf file. Everything is working okay again — EXCEPT the Preview option, which worked fine before, does NOT work anymore. I did not change any of the settings in the plugin.

    What’s going on here??

    By the way, when I click the Preview option now, a gray semi-transparent background fills the screen, then a small white strip drops down at the top of the screen with nothing but a “Close” button on it.

    So, today…suddenly the Preview function is working on the same document that I could not get it to work on yesterday! Shakin’ my head. What changed that would have “fixed” this???

    I have no idea what would cause it to work then not work then work again. You know better than I do what configuration changes you are making to your server.

    Thats where I would start.

    There are NO “configuration changes” being made to the server. The site is hosted on WP Engine, one of the most respected, well-run hosting companies on earth. If any significant changes were being made on the server I am confident I would know about it.
