General question about 'best practices'

    I am using Suffusion theme
    I’ve been creating pages like this one:

    Where I achieve layouts via divs (which someone helped me do. I’m not too good with code)

    Originally I was just looking for a toggle text plugin, and have come across plugins such Shortcodes Ultimate, which offer even more functionality. It seems that I could achieve similar effects as in the link above, without the use of additional code on my part?

    What I wonder is, in terms of best practices, is one approach better than the other.
