General Question on Getting Started

  • Hi I’m just setting up my PMPRO account for some live testing and I have a few question for people who are more experienced.

    1. What kind of paypal merchant account should get if I’m planning on using paypal express for reccuring subscriptions?

    2. What Payment Gateways setup do you think works the best? (Paypal express, Paypal standard, Paypal Website Payments Pro, Stripe, Authorize)

    3. Any general tips when doing sandbox mode testing?

  • You would want to have your paypay as a business account that way you can use the token, secret code api.

    You can use more then one payment gateway for the users

    If you’re doing recurring transactions especially, Stripe is way better than PayPal due to how PayPal sets up the recurring plan. We had many headaches in PayPal that have completely disappeared since moving to Stripe. PayPal is also a bit of a nightmare if you need to call them for support.

    Ah I see. I’ve been reading up on stipe and it seems to be pretty nice having no monthly fees and has pretty much the same transaction fees as paypal.

    Thank you for that recommendation, that may have just saved me a mountain of headache :p
