Hi Ye who are wise in the ways of WordPress!

My site tile isn’t showing up in the tab at the top of the page in WE or Firefox, instead a line of code shows. Disconcerting, no?

    Site is http:\\wildsideassociates.com.

Any help would be most appreciated!

    Best,

    JP

    Error establishing a database connection

Either the values in your wp-config.php file are incorrect or your database server is offline.

Back up now (server-side problem). Now tab shows the site url, not the site title. I haven’t got a clue what’s going on!

What do you have set for “Site Title” at Settings/General in your admin panel?

Wildside Associates, The Native Landscape Specialists

And until today it has always displayed just fine.
I reloaded WP 3; no help.

Try decativating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue.

Thanks. I’ll try that in the AM. I did update several plugins this afternoon, could easily be something there.

Nothing with the plugins. My web host (just host) told me that they had corrected my problems (I think they were having some down-time issue) and when I asked specifically what the problem was I got this reply:

You had some problems with the configuration file of the Header for your site. I have corrected this code.

Have asked what code where, but have not had a response yet.

Typical bug. It’s like trying to follow one wire across the whole house!

It’s possible that you just had the wrong thing between the <title></title> tags in the header template, but it’s great that they fixed it for you.

Yeah, they fixed it! But it’s not right.
I’ve had this up and running for months with no issues until yesterday.
I’ll go check the code. Thanks again for your kind assistance!

Thanks, that was it. He just climbed in and typed the url between <title></title>.
I replaced the code and all is hunky-dory.
Still no idea why it got fubar in the first place. Probably that Murphy guy figures into it somewhere!

    You’re welcome!

Sorry for not thinking to look there first. I was expecting a larger-scale issue, so it just slipped my mind. If it happens again, there still could be a rogue plugin altering the template file, so further troubleshooting may be in order.
