generally good

There is a lot of hyperbole on both sides of the commenters, both “Core NOW !!!!” and “Core never!!!!!” so I wanted to just try it out. First try, tinkering around with creating posts and editing, I find it simple and elegant. I want more functionality but I know that can be added in time, the important thing is to get the general idea nailed down I think.
As to the other page builders out there, this might be disruptive to their business, but are any of them really that fantastic? When buying themes you really have to use the plugins they integrate, even as an experienced css and html coder and pretty good php, hacking most themes is very difficult. Anyway, wpbakery and others, I get they are everywhere, but are they simple and elegant? No they are not. They are heavy, complicated, and it takes a while to figure it out. Options are all over the place.
Enter Gutenberg, and it’s a good start. The concept of blocks is overdue. I’m hopeful this is the beginning of something great.
