Hey @mastertestdeveloper

Although you do have some plugins that deal with order management in general it seems, I don’t see any that stand out specifically that could be causing this. Because of that, I recommend you do a conflict test.

The best way to do this, is to do the following:

– Temporarily switch your theme back to a default?theme, such as Storefront.
– Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce.
– Clear your browser cache, and the cache on your site if you have one there.
– Place a test order to see if the issue has been resolved.

If that resolves the issue, then one-by-one you can switch back your theme and re-enable your plugins, testing in between, until the problem appears again. This will then give you an idea about which plugin is the one causing the conflict.

Since these tests will impact the look and functionality of the site, I also strongly recommend using a staging site where you can do your testing.
If you don’t already have a staging site set up, check with your hosting company as many offer this as part of their packages. Otherwise, you can use a free plugin such as?WP Staging to set one up.

Sorry for the delay in returning. I was trying to solve it with our host. We were not successful.

I followed the steps indicated by you but this error occurs from time to time. The last time this happened was on the 25th and today.

Today the customer made a purchase on his credit card and after completing the purchase, the site created another 2 orders in a row and charged the customer!

This sounds like one of a couple of possible causes:

1. There is a caching issue
2. Your site is allowing customers to complete the purchase multiple times
3. Another plugin or the site’s theme is causing this to happen
4. An external site is creating the orders

The conflict testing @senff mentioned can help with all of those, but that can be tricky with intermittent issues like this.

If you have any caching via a plugin or your host, you may want to confirm that the Cart, Checkout, and My Account pages are all excluded from the cache. This page has some more details about caching and WooCommerce.

If that’s not the cause, a staging site may help for running a conflict test. Your host may have a mechanism to create a staging copy for you. If not, then a free plugin like WP Staging can create a staging copy in your WordPress site.

On the staging site, try to make this happen. You may have to place several test orders, or try different browsers. Once you know you can make it happen, follow the steps here to complete a conflict test.

Once the offending plugin or theme is identified, you may be able to check what it’s doing to see if it can be fixed by the plugin or theme developer or via a setting, or you can find another plugin/theme that won’t cause the issue.
