I upgraded today to version 2.1.1 of Genesis and it made a few changes to sizes on my web page that I don’t know how to fix. These changes shifted text and menu bars enough to make the page look bad. Is there a way I can go back to the previous version of Genesis?

I’m sorry, but we really can’t offer support for commercial products on these forums for a variety of reasons: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Forum_Welcome#Commercial_Products

Technical support for Genesis appears to be available at https://www.studiopress.com/ when you are logged in to your account.

    Hi Mags,
often times it is easy enough to go back.

First of all, it’s always helpful if you include the url to your site ??

Secondly, you can almost always revert back to an earlier version of the parent theme by going to your FTP client and simply overwriting the newer version with the earlier version. If you are concerned, you can compress a backup copy of the newer parent in your /wp-content/themes/ folder and then adding back the original parent theme.

If you need further help, this is something easy for us to get you through…we do it all the time for folks in your situation ??

    Best!

Did you make any custom changes to the files within the genesis theme folder before the update? Those changes get reverted with every update and they recommend you only change things within the child theme folder.

I didn’t make any changes to the theme folder, but that doesn’t mean changes weren’t made by the builder of the website that worked fine through the previous Genesis update, but now don’t work for some reason. But all I did prior to updating to the newest version yesterday was submit a new blog post.

I’m sorry but as you appear to be using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not have access to, nor do we support, commercial products here.

Hi Steve, I didn’t build the website (I don’t have any programming skills to speak of) but am one of the people who oversees content, and we don’t have a webmaster for site maintenance. Thus, I’m not actually sure how to go about going to the FTP client and overwriting. But we may have people that can do it, so I’ll pass your recommendation along to see if that’s something I can get through. Thanks.

Ok Mags.. if you need any further help you can reach out here (or in a new thread if that’s what moderator wants). It’s an easy task… just let us know if you need a hand.

    Best!

The www.ads-software.com support forums are meant for the core application, themes and plugins that are distributed on www.ads-software.com. We do not support themes downloaded from elsewhere. Genesis support can be accessed via https://www.studiopress.com/support

Thank you! Was actually able to grab the css files from a backup I did a week ago and just overwrote the ones from the new version, and that did the trick. So, at least for now, all is well. Thanks for the help!
