Get calendar output for use in Admin

    Hi, wondering if there is a way to get the calendar output for use in the Admin area through functions.php. I am trying to pre-load the value of a custom field with the output of a calendar (shortcode or widget).

    do_shortcode(‘[calendar id=”1234″]’) doesn’t work properly in functions.php. And of course I can’t just grab the widget/sidebar there either…

    Is there a function I can call directly to render the calendar so I can store the markup in a variable?

    Ok could you explain just a little more in depth what you are trying to do so that I can help a bit better?

    There may be a way to do this, but I just want to fully understand what is going on so we can look in the right places. There also may not be a way to do this, so that information will help in deciding that also.
