Get Category ID from friendly URL

    Hey all,

    I have revently changed my URLs to friendly URLs on my website, and I’m having a bit of trouble capturing some information now.

    Previously I used with the structure being ‘/?cat=75’ and the below worked fine –
    $cat = $_GET['cat'];
    But now the I cannot do that as I use ‘/category/news/’.

    Does anybody know of a way to get the Category ID from this URL structure?
