Hi use the classic editor (not Gutenburg). What is an easy way to get a web story embed code without having to switch a published story back to draft and then “publish” it again?

  • Hi @mdotk at present this is the best way to obtain the embed code you are referring to. You could also try reusing a previous embed code and updating the values such as:

    • URL
    • Title
    • Poster

Here is an example embed code that you can save and edit with the values for other Stories:

    [web_stories_embed url="https://testsite.co.uk/web-stories/test-story/" title="Test-Story" poster="https://testsite.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/test-poster.jpg" width="360" height="600" align="none"]

Hope this helps to answer your question but let me know if you have any further.

Thanks @adamdunnage – there is no “automated” way to get it otherwise (other than publish –> draft –> publish)?

@mdotk That is correct. I will discuss with the team to see if there is something we could potentially add in the future.

@mdotk This has been discussed through a previously raised GitHub issue. At this time it is unplanned but maybe something that is considered in the future.
