• My W#P site is set to use a page as the home or splash page What i would like to do is to use a menu button to go to the latest post to the blog thereby making the blog its own discreet section of the website. The site currently also has a forum where users can discuss topics introduced in the blog.

How can I get my menu button of navigation link to get the most recent post to the blog. Is there a how to somewhere that details the steps to do this?

  • Are you using a pre-made theme or a custom theme? Would you be okay with the post displaying in a sidebar (if you have one on your homepage), or do you want it embedded into the page content itself? There are a few ways you can go about displaying your most recent post.

actually what I’m wanting to do is get a menu button that goes to the url of the most recent post. My home page is a static page so I need a menu link to the blog. So I need to wire up the button so that it goes to the blog.

Do you only want the menu button to go to your most recent post, or do you want it to go to your whole blog?

If you want it to go to your whole blog:

    • Go to Appearance –> Menus
    • Find your blog page in your list of pages, select the checkmark next to it, and hit “Add to Menu”
    • Rearrange in your navigation as necessary

Hmmm…. OK looks like I’m gonna have to find another way t get there I’m using Socrates for my theme which replaces WP’s menu with it’s own menu I’ll have to check with Socrates’s support and see what can be done. Thanks for your help anyway.
