Hi. I’ve read over the reset lost password page, and I know I can log into that particular WordPress website with my username – that isn’t the issue.

The issue is that I’m trying to set up my email on that account for use on a Contact US form. I’m following the instructions listed here: https://blog.cf7skins.com/contact-form-7-email-issues/#hosting under #2 – Test if your WordPress installation is able to send emails. When i try to log into that website with my WordPress LISTED email address, I get the error message: “ERROR: There is no user registered with that email address.”

I’ve had that problem before, when I actually DID have a problem signing into that WordPress website. Obviously I AM able to log into www.ads-software.com, am Im currently logged in and I’ve double checked – the email listed as my CURRENT email with WordPress IS CORRECT!

So my question is – why won’t it work to send me a new password when I enter my email address and click on “Get New Password” ??? If my email address associated with my WordPress account is not registered, then WHY do I receive emails all the time when I subscribe to a topic such as this? BUT – I can’t get a new password reset sent to me via email? That makes absolutely NO Sense. Why doesn’t that work?

Thanks for any help that is provided, I definitely would like to be able to have password resets sent to my email address, it would make recovering a lost password MUCH easier!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I think you’re confusing logging into www.ads-software.com with logging into your website. They are totally separate. One login has nothing to do with the other.

This article lists 7 completely different ways to reset your password ON YOUR WEBSITE. Any one of them will work and do the job. Find the one that’s right for you and use that: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Resetting_Your_Password

I’ve read that – this is NOT about resetting my password; yes, it’s about logging into my www.ads-software.com website. When I go to my WordPress Website login, and select “Lost your Password” it gives me a username or email login menu. I enter in my email address (which as I’ve already stated SHOWS as listed in my WordPress account) BUT as soon as I click on “Get New Password” using my email address (that IS listed in my profile in WordPress) I get this: ERROR: There is no user registered with that email address.

Now – is that or is that NOT associated with my WordPress account? If it is, then WHY am I getting an error when I do have my correct email listed, and I DO receive emails for these forums?

If it is NOT associated with my WordPress account, why am I instructed to enter my email address to get a new password sent to me? I do not understand how that is set up through my hosting service. I would appreciate understanding this issue, since I’ve had it before, and I’m sure I’ll have it again.

Again, I don’t ACTUALLY need to reset my password for my website, what I am TRYING to do is troubleshoot why i am not getting emails for my “Contact Us” Form, and am simply following the instructions listed here: https://blog.cf7skins.com/contact-form-7-email-issues/#sendemails

Thanks again for your help/explanation as to why my email doesn’t work to send me a password reset…?

Your website login email also may have nothing to do with CF7 — if you’re having an issue with CF7, I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/contact-form-7#new-post so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

If you can’t login with the email associated with your user id, then try re-entering it; maybe there’s some weird character in it that’s breaking the functionality.

If the issue is that you just don’t get the emails, check your spam folder. If not there, ask your host to check their mail logs.

Thanks. However, my question STILL remains as to WHY trying to get a new password email sent to me continuously returns an error that my email is not registered. If my email actually is registered with WordPress then the error message for the Wp-Login.php is an incorrect error message and should be changed to let users know what the REAL problem is… Otherwise, my original question remains – why doesn’t it find my email address as registered?

As I said, it may be that the email that’s in the database is not what you think it is. Look in the database with PHPMYADMIN (see the link above) and check your email address in wp_users. Re-enter it if necessary.

I think it may be on the Host end, but I am not sure how to validate that, since there is no information on WordPress to show me WHY I am getting an error that my email address is not registered. My question NOW is when logging into the wp-login screen, is that using the email that is associated with my WordPress account, or is it the email that is associated with my WordPress site on my hosting site? That is where the confusion is. If it is using my email address associated with my WordPress account, then the error is in WordPress, since I KNOW that the email is spelled correctly for my WordPress account, However, if it is the email address associated with my website login, that is a totally different email address. I believe THAT is why this issues is so confusing to not only me, but many others that I’ve seen post about this same issue. Thank you for your assistance.

Okay Steven, I have been working with my hosting company, and I KNOW I am getting emails from the email address for my WordPress website: aheartbreakingchoice.org However, when I try to use the correct email for that WordPress email account (again -worked with my hosting co, and I KNOW the email works and that it is the CORRECT email) I am NOW getting the error: ERROR: Invalid username or email.

So there is most definitely something wrong with the password reset function in the WordPress website login password reset function. Can you PLEASE tell me what email address I am SUPPOSED to be using to get my password reset when logging into a WordPress website? Is it the email address for the WordPress website in question, or my email address associated with my www.ads-software.com account that I use to login here?

Again – I DO NOT need to reset my password, I NEED to follow the instructions for setting up my CONTACT US form that are listed HERE:

https://blog.cf7skins.com/contact-form-7-email-issues/#sendemails – Step 2. Test if your WordPress installation is able to send emails.

Please see the instructions to see what I am referring to.

    Thank you!

You use the email associated with your user id.

Which user ID? The one for aheartbreakingchoice.org, or the one for my www.ads-software.com account? That is the question…thanks.

What are you trying to recover the password for? That one.
