Get excerpt to recognize paragraph breaks

  • Please make the homepage excerpts displayed by the “Read More Excerpt Link” plugin recognize paragraph breaks. Sometimes excerpts on this blog span from one to two paragraphs, so please allow the excerpt to show the paragraph breaks in the excerpts and not just one chunky block of text. Would appreciate a swift response on this. Thanks!

    I believe the excerpt comes from WordPress, which strips tags. The reason it does this is because of html state. Imagine if it’s half way in the middle of a paragraph and bold. It would need to know the state was paragraph and bold to close both (in the correct order). Instead, WordPress strips the html from the excerpt as tracking state (and order) would be very difficult.

    How you resolve this is by adding the exact location you want the read more (at the end of the first paragraph).
