If you require name and email to start chat enabled, is there a way to just make it so it requires name and not the email?

  • Hi @buttabrain

Thank you for getting in touch with us. So sorry for only getting back to you now.

Unfortunately the plugin doesn’t allow you to disable the email field at this point in time. We have got plans of introducing this in the near future though.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.

Hi Jarryd, thank you for the great plugin. As a professional marketer, I would highly recommend removing the email field. Usability testing results inform us that users are less willing to give up their email addresses. ??

    Hi @ericreynolds007

Thanks so much for your feedback. I’ll mention this in the feature request to see if we can introduce it sooner than expected ??

    Hi Eric
I know you requested that you wanted to negate the use of the email field but I also wanted to make sure you were aware of the feature that removes the need for both the email and name field. It can be found on the Live Chat – Settings page under the chatbox tab.

I do agree with you though.. We need to allow the ability to remove both individually and still allow them to modify their name and email in-chat should they wish to. I will work on this ASAP and get it out!

Hi Nick, thank you for getting back to me. I would be happy to contribute additional advice based upon usability testing and what’s trending. Are you subscribed to any usability testing services? I can’t tell you how much stats and analyses taught me how to design and develop sites that work for my clients.

As for the Chatbox setting, I know about it. However, I didn’t want to disable both of them, just the email field. it’s important to empower users. Usability testing taught me that the name field empowers users, especially when you want to know the name of the user with whom you’re connecting. ?? Eric

    Hi Eric

Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate it.

Can you recommend any usability testing services that we can take a look at? This can always help us in the future for our plugins ??

Hi Jarryd, we’re grandfathered into Nielsen’s data analyses. I discovered that they no longer offer blanket information. However, we continue to receive results from screen testing.

We began our search at https://www.forrester.com. Forrester’s has a wealth of resources for testing. Begin there. I’ll check around our network for reputable new companies and let you know. ?? Eric

    Hi Eric

Thanks so much for the feedback, we really appreciate it!

Any update on this? It seems like a simple enough amendment to make and is something that has such an effect on the willingness of the user to engage. I really dont like the no name/email option which gives the customer a number – not what we are about at all.

I am surprised that this topic is marked resolved as it isnt other than saying you will look at it.

    Hi there

We have got plans of adding this into the plugin, however I don’t have an ETA as to when this will be available.

This is on our development schedule and we’ll try our best to make this option available as soon as possible.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused by the delay.
