• Hello!

I love using mega menu and use it in all my websites but i have a niche request/question.

In one of my sub-menus i use max mega menu’s “Standard Layout” feature. I use 6 columns standard layout and all items get aligned automatically and sorted but horizontally. Is there a way i can get them to sort vertically?

What i mean is lets say i have my parent item called “alphabet” with 7 items “a,b,c,d,e,f,g” appearing in the drop-down menu. Right now they get sorted/aligned like that:
    a b c d e f
    g

Instead of the desired result which is:
    a g
    b
    c
    d
    e
    f

Any help or ideas appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi kuhakuneko,

Please could you post a link to your site so I can get a better idea of what you’re trying to do?

    Hello Tom,

The site is chameleon-audio.com. Over there you will see on the menu there is an item called “Brands”. The drop-down menu reveals our brands on the shop.

What i am trying to do is have them sorted vertically instead of horizontally.

As you can see the drop-down items appear as:
All Brands, Acoustical Systems, Analog Relax, Antipodes Audio et.c.
which means they are sorted alphabetically (or more precisely my order, which happens to be alphabetical) but inline/horizontally.

What i really want is for the items to first populate the first column in alphabetical order (the order i have in my menu right now) and then continue to the right without me manually moving them.

I would like them to be like:

    All Brands
    Acoustical Systems
    Analog Relax
    Antipodes Audio
    ….

I use a 6 column standard layout. Not grid. Because it is less of a hustle and i don’t have to manually move the brands myself since many brands come and go.

I would like them to populate evenly across the whole 6 columns but start by populating the first column and get “sorted vertically”.

I hope it is clearer now.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi kuhakuneko,

Thanks, I see what you mean now.

It’s not possible to do it ‘out of the box’, but you could try this.

Install this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/add-descendants-as-submenu-items/ (ignore the warning, it still works OK)

    Setup your menu like this:

Switch the sub menu layout to Grid Layout and set the number of columns for All Brands to 6:

I think that sorts the items left to right, but you should now have 6 columns of ‘menu items ‘brands’ auto-populating. Then get back to me here and I think I should be able to get them to be sorted vertically.

    Regards,
    Tom
