get_pages but only top-level pages

No that’s not what I’m looking for. I’m not looking to test if I’m on a subpage. I’m looking to get an array back of all of the root level pages, like the get_pages function does, except not with all of the subpages.

What about:

$my_pages = get_pages('parent=0');

I can’t get get_pages(‘parent=0’) to work for me. Posted on a similar topic where I think that this is the solution….
