get_post_custom not working

Hey, I have a question. I’m experimenting with my wordpress theme, and in my single template file I am using get_post_custom() to get some values from checkboxes in a custom meta box I made. Now, when I click update on the admin page, and refresh the post on the front end, the custom values show up fine. But If I wait a minute, and refresh the front end again, the custom values disappear. I have to update them again on the admin screen for them to work again. What could be going on here?
