get_sidebar() function to use child theme directory

Is there a way to make the get_sidebar() function search for the sidebar files in the child theme folder?

get_sidebar('events');

In the child theme loads ‘sidebar-events.php’ from the parent theme directory but I’d like to have it in the child theme directory to keep all the files I’ve created and modified separate.
