Can i please get some help on this?

    Thanks

    Pretty vague.
When do you get the 500 error? All the time? or during certain tasks?

Have you tried redownloading and uploading wordpress? Sometimes a file goes missing or corrupt.

If you have backend access, have you tried to reset your permalinks? And does it work?

Just trying to get some more info to start from.

when i open up the main index.php
any others like wp-admin/login are fine.

I have tried to upload and upgrade as well to new version and still same thing..

    Thanks

The 500 error is tough one to troubleshoot remotely. Something is out of place, but it is hard to say what without getting dirty. If you have a virtual host, have your tried them to make sure that everything is where it should be.

Also. Can you update permalinks? This type of error for me has often been a problem with the .htaccess file. So you might try resetting that. Do you have any custom settings in your htaccess?

i checked and there is no .htaccess file…

could that be coz of this file missing?

if you are using permalinks, there has to be an .htaccess file. Most likely, your ftp program is hiding it. This is extremely common. Check the documentation for your ftp software on how to unhide the .htaccess file.

This file is in your site’s root directory (eg “html” or “www”).

if it works from sub folder but not root folder is that still issue with permalinks?
