i’m not sure. I mean, when I set it to default, they seem fine. But if I set it to one of the other options, i get the page error. any thoughts?

When you set it to “one of the other options” – are the rest of the internal links working? Catgeies, monthly archives, single post permalinks etc?

actually, no, they are not working either.

    Then it’s a .htaccess issue – or mod_rewrite.
Are you sure mod_rewrite is enabled on your server?
Do you have a .htaccess file? If yes, is it writable? What the Permalinks settings page says after you hit the Update options button?

Don’t be so laconic, and don’t ask whether others have the same problem. Describe yours in details, give a link… help us to help you.

    Moshu,
When you asked about whether files were writable, that made me realize that I had to alter the .htaccess and index.php files to 666. That fixed the problem.

I don’t mean to be laconic about this stuff, but I am trying my best as I realize folks like you are here quite often trying to help folks like me for free, no less.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Only the .htaccess!
And you are welcome – glad it was helpful ??

by the way, I’m getting a 404 page error when I try to click on a blog entry https://venusgolfing.com/blog/1999/11/30/hello-world/

    any ideas on the culprit?

Just a picky comment/question, but you are being paid to create a website, using wordpress free of charge and removing all references in both the CSS and the PHP to that it is WordPress? I mean, I’ll eat my hat if I’m jumping to conclusions there.

actually, these are my sites. not clients. but fair question to ask.
