Getting and filtering plugin reviews?

Hi,

To get a plugin’s basic stats from the repository, we can use:

https://api.www.ads-software.com/plugins/info/1.0/{slug}.json

This brings back most of the data. To add reviews to the response, we can use:

https://api.www.ads-software.com/plugins/info/1.0/{slug}.json?fields[reviews]=1

Great. However, the reviews returned in the response:

1) are a string of markup, and
2) only contains the latest 10 reviews, and
3) can’t be filtered by rating.

If absolutely necessary, I can glean the data from the returned markup. Still, that won’t bring back any additional results, or allow me to filter them by rating.

Hmmm.

I read the plugins_api() function documentation and scoured Google for answers…also read through the WP API docs on the Codex.

Is there anything in place to filter and return a plugin’s reviews? Or has anyone solved this without having scraping/traversing markup?

No, there is no such option in the API to do this.

If you do need a way to get reviews, adding /feed to most URLs on these forums probably does what you want.

Example: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/pluginception/reviews/feed

Thanks for the follow-up, Sam. I took a vacation day yesterday and feeling all kindsa recharged here. I checked the feeds right after your previous reply and it did get me a bit closer to the goal. I wasn’t able to filter the result after a few tries, so I ended up using the reviews URL. This URL returns the data I need, albeit with a healthy intermix of markup, but 5-10 minutes of code can extract just the needed bits. Thanks again for the idea and follow-up.
