Getting error "404 Not Found" while accessing sub directory multisite portal

    My friends,

    I am literally got frustrated seeing this error as I have applied all suggestions across the world to resolve this issue on my server.

    I have installed wordpress in my local lan and accessing same using IP address 192.168.0.100. Single home wordpress working fantastic without any issue after enabling multisite also. But as soon as I tried to access new site added under multisite using https://192.168.0.100/demo it gives error 404.

    I installed wordpress for almost 100 times and done all changes on blogs but problem is same. The issue is on linux platform only whereas at the same time when I install wordpress on windows with XAMPP platform it working fine with all physical infrastructure and settings.

    Till the time I changed .htaccess configuration file, change installation directory to home as well as sub directory and so on. On linux also I changed Ubuntu to CentOS but issue is same.

    Please help me to resolve the issue as I tried reading all blogs and implemented one by one without any luck.

    How are you installing multisite? As a sub-directory installation? Have you checked if mod_rewrite is enabled and on your directory?

    The Apache2 config should include AllowOverride All for the rewrite rules to work.

    Jan… Thanks for quick response.

    I am installing multisite using subdirectories and mod_rewrite is enabled.

    Jan… Your reply act as a magic to me as I earlier enabled “AlloOverride All” but it was giving internal server error after doing that changes.

    But I just changed that settings again and working perfect.

    I recommend Options -Indexes just to keep the directory contents from being listed. I’m glad you got it working.
