    Hello everyone,
I need to update my old WP version from 2.8 to 3.4.
When updating automatically i get maintenance notice first, and then an error.
When updating manually i also get the same error.

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/wp-includes/classes.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/zend/share/pear') in /wp-settings.php on line 68
    https://3ddom.ru/

    Can someone plz help?

Did you make a pre-upgrade database backup? You should never try to perform such a large upgrade in a single step. You need to follow the instructions in Upgrading_WordPress_Extended.

Of course, i have all required back-ups and can easily get everything back to work. But i havent diactivated my plugins. Do you think that its the case?

You should deactivate all plugins and switch to the default theme before running any upgrade.

I think the error is saying that file classes.php is missing. But there isnt such file in wordpress 3.4.
And yes now i will try to updgrade it with plugins turned off.

Restore your site back to 2.8 and then follow the instructions in Upgrading_WordPress_Extended.

I am sorry for misleading you, but the version turned out to be 3.0.1
Almost throught, but on the way i got another error – Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class wpdb in /home/users1/b/banzai/domains/3ddom.ru/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 51.

I diactivated plugins, replaced files and get this error ??

Given that the current version of WordPress is 3.4.2, anything below 3.2 would be defined as “old” and would need to be upgraded in smaller steps. So you’re still following the right path. ??

What version of WordPress are you up to?
