Yet another issue with this plugin(I don’t have any other plugins that deal with images).

When I open any image that has been optimized by EWWWIO, all I get is garbage like this:

    RIFFoê?WEBPVP8 ?ê?eE?*?8>1‰D”!!%¢p?p° iia?[n÷t??ct?¥÷sü?6_÷ü????zey?üoúT??¥é`??¨ˉ??a??üSü????Dz63S&G??)oíáKt?àt??3???ˉ,y?Y?ê€~??H ?é?_y_?}Ry¨y??????

Since it doesn’t save backups, it cannot restore the old images(which were WebP). I’m almost deleting this thing from my WordPress installation and reuploading everything as JPEGs and PNGs. If this bug is related to WebP itself, I’m dropping it.

Our plugin doesn’t do anything with WebP images, meaning, there isn’t any optimization that it does. It can generate them from PNGs or JPGs but it doesn’t touch originally uploaded WebPs.

Strange, since the optimization history shows the pics have been touched by the plugin.

I think maybe a debug log would show us best what is happening. You can generate that by:

    1. Going to the support tab and clicking on Debugging and saving.
    2. Go back to the support tab and click the link for “Clear log” so we have a clean slate
    3. Upload a new webp image
    4. Wait a little bit to let the process happen
    5. Go back to the support tab and click “Download Log”
    6. Uncheck Debugging and save
    7. Send the log and the name of the image you uploaded to us directly: https://ewww.io/contact-us/

Also, you mentioned that there aren’t backups but EWWW does have a backup folder. You can find the settings for that at the bottom of the local tab of the plugin settings.

As I haven’t heard anything back about this I’m going to resolve this thread. If you have further questions, please feel free to open a new one!
