    Hi,
    im trying to get google webmaster to verify my site on with the HTML meta data sections. i’ve uploaded the code into the Webmaster Tools verification google sections on yoast seo and i get an error on the webmaster page.

    I’ve also uploaded the code into my theme editor as

    <head>
    <meta name=”google-site-verification”content=”RFL1FeNFFWIMVEvThL-mje4zeTd6ybv4bBcyWk3Ntn8″ />

    and still nothing. The error that is displayed is

    Verification failed for https://my website .co.uk/ using the Meta tag method (less than a minute ago). We were unable to connect to your server.

    any suggestions ? thanks

    Hi @bspark,

    The error message suggests that Google cannot access your website. It does not say anything about the verification code not being found (or is invalid).

    Are you blocking the search engines through your robots.txt file?

    If not, if you are using any security plugins, we recommend temporarily disabling them and try again. If the issue persists, it would be best to contact your hosting provider to further investigate why Google cannot access your server.

    Hi,
    absolutely great! Didn’t even think about the security. I disabled that temporarily and retried… worked a treat

    Many Thanks ??
