Getting do_not_honor response for lots of US cards. It doesn’t seem to be happening for any other nations, just particularly US non American Express cards.

    Hey Jonny,

The do_not_honor flag is the error message reported back to your site from Stripe. There are various reasons that they can be sending this for a particular transaction, so there’s no way to say for certain the cause. Typically though it’s just that the customers issuing bank has told Stripe they wouldn’t approve the transaction.

I would recommend reaching out to Stripe’s customer service team, to have them check into a few specific transactions for you.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction!

I own an ecommerce store with thousands of USA orders, and up until a few months ago we noticed the same thing. The problem is that the USA bank flags it as suspicious. However, you can resolve this with our plugin, which allows you to accept 3D Secure payments through Stripe. Our plugin is the only one available that allows you to do this. Once you set it up, it will make your customer be redirected to a 3D Secure verification page when the card is about to get declined by the bank. Once the customer passes the verification, the bank takes responsibility for the transaction (ie. 3D Secure payments are at no risk of fraud chargebacks.)

You can check out our plugin at https://www.woostripe.com and email me directly at the address that’s on there if you have any questions!
