• I updated the Soundcloud Is Gold player today. Afterwards I noticed that in place of the track name in my mini player, I’m getting the message “Please visit soundcloud.com to listen to this content.”

I didn’t look at my home page just before performing the upgrade, so I’m not sure if it’s related to that or if this was already occurring. I do know the place was working properly at least within the last one to two weeks.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Have you found a solution to this problem? I get the same message.

    Hey guys,

So like I said before your browser is blocking flash. This is a feature you have enabled at some point in your browser.

The mini player is flash based.

Screenshot on chrome (blocking flash): https://mightymess.com/temp/chrome.png
Screenshot on safari (doesn’t block flash plugins): https://mightymess.com/temp/safari.png

I cannot do anything about it. Try it on other people computers to check. Only solutions if this is still not the issue but I really doubt it: Either switch to the html5 player or maybe use another plugin.

Like I said in another post, I cannot offer personalised support, this plugin is just something I do on the side for free.

@realtm, what I see from your screenshots is that you’re having the same problem we are. It’s not that Flash is blocked, it’s that we can’t get access to the audio from SC. I’ve tried downgrading to an earlier version of the plugin, and the problem is persistent. Edit: I just downgraded to 2.2, and I can’t get any of the players to show up on the site at all.

On your suggestion, I just tried the other display options, and it’s true that the HTML5 player is working, but it’s the only one that works. I have no software blocking Flash; the only extension I’m running in my current browser (Safari) is AdBlock, and it’s turned off for the sites I’m working on. I’ve tried it in Chrome and FireFox, as well, as stated.

I also think it’s fair to say we’re not having a personalized problem: a lot of folks are having exactly the same issue.

I, for one, would be happy to send you some cash toward fixing this problem. Is there somewhere we could do that en masse, so you could get some compensation for your trouble?

I agree with Adam. If flash is blocked, you just get a blank space. This is different, and it’s a new issue. I would be willing to offer some cash towards fixing the issue as well.

@realtm, just went to your site and tried to donate, but the PayPal link is bunk. ??

    Hi again,

This more a time issue than money, although happy to take donations for all of the previous work I’ve done and to support future update.

This grey box is your browser blocking plugins this is why the html5 version does work. I think this issue is beyond the plugin. Asking the question on stack overflow for example as “why is flash blocked and replaced with a grey box”.

Sorry but I can’t help you on this one

@realtm, I don’t know what you’re seeing, but it’s not what we’re seeing. This is what we’re seeing:

    Hi

I have the same problem and i confirm that it’s not a flash issue. The behavior is the same on all my browser and computer (mac, linux and windows). Perhaps a new version of soundcloud API ?

    Thank you for help

Haha! Sorry, I was thinking I was writing to another thread where the person was getting the flash player blocked.

I have no idea why it’s doing this, the only reason would be that your tracks, on the soundcloud website, are set as private or as not allowed to be embedded on other websites. But I think you’ve already checked that.

Maybe soundcloud now only allow people to embedded html5 players when using a free soundcloud account.

@adam, my button for donation seems to be working fine
