• Hello,

I’ve been using s2member for about 6 months and recently upgraded to pro.

Like many users, I’ve suffered along with emails not getting sent to new registrants, and believe I’ve finally found what might be the issue. Both of s2member’s default url shortening services, tinyurl.com and goo.gl, are listed with Spamhaus’ blacklist database. Is there a way to switch this to ow.ly, or to just get rid of the url shortening function altogether? I’d rather people have to cut/paste the link into their browser than not be sent it a all.

Thanks! I’m otherwise very grateful for a (relatively) seamless membership integration platform, and upgraded to pro mostly as a courtesy rather than for the increased functionality.

    James

  • There is an option to specify a different service in General Options -> URL Shortening Service API (Preference)

I’m intrigued by your preference for ow.ly. (I know very little about these services.) Is your preference based on hope or experience of using that service?

Yeah, I saw that section, but it’s highly technical (and I am not). Ow.ly is the one url shortening service that is not listed on any blacklists that I can find. I do the research on mxtoolbox.com.

I think I’d frankly prefer to not use a URL shortening service at all, as they are all prone to winding up on blacklists from time to time.

Hmm, it seems that ow.ly has had problems too. So your last point is well taken.
