    Hi @suprim,
Please let me know what reCAPTCHA plugin you use.
And please note that, spammers can be a real visitors, not only robots. reCAPTCHA stops robots, but if a real visitor fill comment form fields and click on I’m not robot it pass the protection. reCAPTCHA see it’s human and allow to post any content he/she wants.
The best content based spam detect is Aksimet. I’d recommend use Akismet plugin with reCAPTCHA. It has free option too. If you’ll be satisfied then you can go with pro options. I’m sure Askismet filters such comments very well:

I use your addon captcha plugin. I know it stops only bot but I am getting spam comment like 20-30 a day for same website and I don’t think it’s real human doing that.

That’s good. Please try to post a comment without checking the I’m not robot checkbox. Maybe something is crashed on your website and it doesn’t work. And yes, you should know there is no 100% protection, even with reCAPTCHA. There are human spammers which can post even hundreds of spam comments per day.

    I’d also recommend:

    1. Navigate to Dashboards > Comments > Forms admin page, edit the comment forms and make sure they are enabled for all post types. You may have some post type which has the default native comment system and wpDiscuz is not loaded with reCAPTCHA. So spammers use other comment forms.

    2. Install some security plugin to disable REST API and XMLRPC. Here is a good blog post about that: https://zeek.com/security-xmlrpc-rest-api/

    3. reCAPTCHA + Akismet combo

    Hello,

I just tried commenting without checking the captcha and I can’t post the comment the captcha turns red and I have to check captcha to comment. Also I am pretty sure it is not human because the 2-3 comments appear every hour or so.

I have comment form enabled on all post, page and attachment. Everything was normal I have been getting the spam comment since last few days before I never got a single spam comment when using wpdiscuz so I am kind of surprised.

I have disabled XMLRPC let’s see if this helps. I don’t want to use akismet because I have read a lot of articles of it slowing down the site.

    Thank you

Check spam comments location (which post/page is spammed) and type (simple comment, pingback or trackback). And disable pingback or trackback comments.

Ok, then you should check what have you done, what have you updated and what’s new have you installed. You’ve opened new door for spammers and that’s door is not wpDiscuz comment form for sure. It seems spammers have founded other ways to insert comments in your database.

I don’t want to use akismet because I have read a lot of articles of it slowing down the site.

It only works on new comment submission, It doesn’t work on page loading or comment listing processes. Thus it can’t affect your page speed.

Finally you can install other spam protection plugins which are integrated with wpDiscuz:
    WordPress Zero Spam
    WPBruiser {no-Captcha anti-Spam}
