Okay, I’ve read the installation page. I’ve hit “Save Changes” on the permalinks screen and I don’t mind the thumbnails at 150×150. I saw the stuff about inserting code into the php for the theme, which is fine – I can do that.

I have a perfectly new installation of WordPress 3.5.1, and I’ve chosen the “Sundance” theme that came with the installation, edited the index.php file, and I’ve activated the Akismet plugin. That’s all I’ve done.

But how do I actually upload a comic? I have no idea how to actually use Comic Easel, and there are no instructions anywhere that I can find about this.

In case you’re wondering, I’ve successfully installed the Comic Easel plugin – I see the “Comic Easel News” on the Dashboard. But I don’t see any Settings page for Comic Easel, or a way to edit options in the Plugins area. Is there one?

With the comic easel plugin activated, in the left set of menu items there should be a new one that says “comic”

Unless another plugin is overwriting it.

Thanks! So I hit “Add Comic”, and there’s all sorts of stuff there to add a comic, which looks great. But in the top right corner it says “To add a comic image, use the featured image link to add a featured image. After it uploads, click the “use as featured image”.

I don’t understand. What’s the whole purpose of the “Add Comic” page if it isn’t even used? And where is this “featured image link”? I can’t find it.

Okay, I figured out that I was using the wrong theme. But I still don’t have it working.

I posted a new Comic, set the featured image, and all that, and I see my new post with the comic in it. But (1) the comic is too small in the blog post and (2) I wanted a large version of the comic across the top of the website anyway (like dilbert.com or pvponline.com). Is that not supposed to happen?

Also, is it possible to use the plugin with a different theme? The instructions made it seem like I could, but when I used a different theme there was no “featured image” option.

the comic is constrained within the available space, if you don’t want it there move the do_action(‘comic-area’) to another area..

    what theme did you choose?

I was using the Easel theme. I just deleted the post and did it all over again, and it worked. Maybe saving a post in a bad state, then going back and fixing things, isn’t the best way to create a comic on Comic Easel? I don’t know. Either way, it’s working now.

I’ve actually switched to a different theme, and I have it working there too.

    Thanks!

Yup, changing a comic post makes it not appear. I tried changing which image a comic was displaying, and the comic no longer showed.
