• I decided I needed to write a blog. A little research led me to decide on www.ads-software.com. I registered then went through the introductory information. I see that I’ll need software, which I assume means “on my desktop” (that it’s too big or complex to use on my phone). But then I got to this section:

    << Before You Install
Before installing WordPress, you need to check that your web hosting provider fulfills the necessary software and conditions. Also, you must have access method to the server and some tools.>>

Um… so, I *picked* a website name when I registered (or, at least I thought I did!). I assumed my web hosting provider was now www.ads-software.com. Where did I go wrong and why wasn’t this question answered by all the preceding basic intro instructions I was asked to read?

What you installed is just an app you can use to manage your site.

In general you’ll need to install the WordPress software on your hosting provider. You’ll primarily work with the site through your browser.

    Please follow this guide: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/new-to-wordpress-where-to-start/

You need to look for a host.

You can use https://wordpress.com/ to host. It’s probably the easiest route to go. You can have your own domain name through them and or use a subdirectory of WordPress.com.

Or you can find a regular host like Godaddy, Bluehost, or Pair.com. They all have bells and whistles that make it easy to install WordPress. Once the site is setup, you get your domain implemented with the site so when folks type your domain name they’ll be sent to your site.
