Getting subpages to use parent page's template…

  • Dear WP folks,

    I am still new to WP, so perhaps I am missing some obvious thing—but I’m stumped.

    I have a top-level page that displays at “mysite.com/touring/” for which I was able to make a custom template, “page-touring.php” (at this point, it only has a single comment line added, so that I could make sure it was being called). This works as expected.

    I have made a subpage (the first of several) that displays at “mysite.com/touring/southeast/” that I want to use the same template. It does not, it uses “page.php” instead, and I can’t find a mechanism to assign it to the other template.

    What have I missed?
