Getting summaries on home page instead of full article

To display an excerpt on the blog page instead of the full post in Penscratch, you’ll first need to set up a child theme, so your tweaks won’t be overwritten when updating the theme. Here are some guides in case you haven’t made one before:

Make a copy of content.php and place it in your child theme folder.

Change line 32 in your child theme’s content.php from this:

<?php if ( is_search() ) : // Only display Excerpts for Search ?>

to this:

<?php if ( is_search() || is_home() ) : // Only display Excerpts for Search or Blog page ?>

Glad that works! By default you need to click the post title to read the full post. You could try one of the examples in the Codex for a Read More-type link, like the sample function here:
