The idea behind a visually focused layout editor is a long time coming. I read the gutenberg handbook on wp.org. It was very thorough and well written for the average joe. Appreciate that. I’ve written child themes since before there were child themes. And I’m an advanced user of the WP editor.

The first post that I wrote with Gutenberg, I noticed the following:
    – alt + K no longer adds link
    – it was difficult to figure out how to add a main block once I had a bunch of paragraphs in… All I wanted was to put my curser between 2 paragraphs (blocks) and add an image and it seriously took me a couple minutes and pressing ‘enter’ seemed to give me a blank space and an inline menu… there is a tad too much blank so it takes a lot of intuiting to figure out where the blocks start and stop…
    – Yoast SEO plugin doesn’t work – not your problem, but most ppl wont be able to use Gutenberg until that is resolved
    – Cookbook plugin didn’t work, no food blogger can use gutenberg until their recipe plugin integrates…

Can we get an update when its time to test WITH plugins?

Also – I LOVE the predefined blocks that were previously widgets (pages, posts, category dropdown, etc). <3 Thank you!

Thanks for taking time to review and leave considered feedback Cathy. You have some interesting insights and I’d like to delve into them a bit.

What exactly made you understand the adding of a block in the end? What would you think help you get there easier?

You rightly point out that plugins and themes will work overtime and before the release in 5.0 in most cases. This is something everyone is aware of and working on. Right now a good way to do this is infact as you did and then contact the plugin authors with feedback, you never know they may not be aware if a small team or not focused on this project. Thanks for helping test.
