WordPress 5.5 introduced auto update feature, but it also added auto update email. Now I am getting two emails if any of my sites plugin gets updated. How to stop WordPress auto update email?

E.g., 1. [Website] Some plugins were automatically updated – From WordPress
    2. [Website] One or more plugins have been updated. – From Companion Auto Update

Some info I think will be useful to you,

    * Companion Auto Update updated to 3.6.0
    * Companion Auto Update database updated to 3.6.0
    * PHP 7.4.8

    Hi,

Yes, you’ll have to uncheck “Core notifications” in the plugins’ settings to stop getting the one from WordPress. (It’s not disabled by default in order to give users the option to choose which they want to receive)

Oh! I was thinking to disable it but unsure. Thanks for clarifying it! ??

@papin I thought your plugin was controlling notifications. And yet, a notification has arrived to update the theme. “Successful update” and “Update available” are not checked in your plugin. Should I do what it says in the link that showed @minhazul007?

@autori76 just remove the tick mark from “Core notifications” and you will not receive any notification from WordPress. I did that and double email issue is fixed! ??

@minhazul007 I would prefer to keep “Core notifications” for WordPress update notifications. But I’ll think about it later. Thanks for the hint, I’ll know what to do if necessary. ??

@autori76 I would like to keep that ticked also but double notification is annoying for me. Maybe in future there will be a way to just disable WordPress auto update email only.

@autori76 Hey man! How are you doing? Found a great plugin which will ONLY disable WordPress default auto update plugin/ theme email! Using it now. Also I turned on “Core notifications” again ??

    Check it: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/disable-theme-and-plugin-auto-update-emails/

@minhazul007 Hey. I’m fine. And with you? Great message. I will consider installing this plugin. Thanks ??

@minhazul007 I solved this problem by filtering messages. If there is a message from my side that the plugin has been updated, my mail system automatically deletes the message before I see it.

@autori76 I am fine also! I see, good alternative by auto deleting email. My main intention was how to disable just default WordPress plugin/ theme update email. That plugin fixed this for me. I hope it will be useful for you ??

    I understand ??

    Hey guys,

In version 3.7 I’ve disabled the new update emails for plugins and themes from WordPress completely. The core notifications option will now only change the behavior of the emails sent about Core updates.

@papin thanks for the really needed update! I have updated it and using CAU just like before, in peace ??
