Gif Loading

I have created a slider using gif’s and everything is working great. Except when the gif’s load they skip in the beginning and start over. I suspect this is due to the gif’s loading prior to being viewed. Has anyone come across this issue and if so how did you deal with it? I would like a smooth transition but the sudden restart is too abrupt.
