Since I changed from my prior theme to wp 20/23 I have been unable to correctly produce a stand alone GiveWP donation form. Weather calling the form using the permalink or using a button I always get the donation form with the site title and site tagline instead or the correct header as laid out in the site editor.

When I am viewing a donation form and click on edit site it shows as single page with the correct header.

Clearly, I do not understand how to correct this situation.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @craigthill – it’s a little tricky to know exactly what is happening here. It would help to have a little more info on how you’ve set this up. At the moment it looks as though the form is correctly loading in the page – but it is (by default) using the usual template which includes the header and footer.

Did you set up a new template without header and footer to use for this page? Or is it just a normal page set up like any other?

    Hi, thanks for responding.

Actually that is the site title and site tagline displayed, NOT the header as laid out in the site editor. Or I am doing something wrong….

Hello??? anybody home to help with this issue??

Hey @craighill – when you are editing that page – can you tell me which page template it has showing in the settings sidebar on the right?

One thing I’m wondering as well, is if GiveWP has some kind of setting that tries to make a standalone page (which is why it isn’t showing the default header) but it’s not working well with Twenty Twenty Three.

I just also wanted to note – if I try and view the example page to keep investigating further, it seems to not be live any longer.

Hi Jordesign… The example page seems to work ok, now, and if you look at it you will see a donation form that has a header consisting of a site title and a site tag line, not the header that is supposed to be with it, like this page that shows an image on the left and a donation form on the right with the correct header… https://oycyf.org/giving/on-the-water-fund

For whatever reason when I call the donation form with a button or just look at the form, the header is incorrect and I can not figure how or where to fix this. If I use a page with a shortcode to call the donation form, it is correct. I have looked at every use of the header in the site editor and can not find any thing that shows any page or anything that uses the site title and site tag line. I am sure it is something I am missing.

    That’s really helpful – thanks @craigthill.

Taking a look at those pages there’s something that I notice.

This makes me think that that page with the incorrect header is being automatically generated by Give WP – which is why it isn’t using the same header as the rest of the site. Is that page one you have manually set up? Or does GiveWP add it in some way?

A couple of things I can think of to try…

    • If you open the Site Editor (Appearance > Editor) and go to Templates – do you see a ‘Give Forms Default’ template in the list that you can edit?
    • If/when you edit that page with the incorrect header – are you able to change the Page Template (in the settings on the right) to be the default page template?

Sorry, I have to ask a question… In your response you have ash line:

    ?–?https://oycyf.org/donations/a-form-with-incorrect-header?shows as using a template called ‘give_forms-template-default’?

Where do you see “a template called ‘give_forms-template-default’?” ?

When I go to that page and select “edit Site I get the site editor showing a single post template showing the correct header.

    (@craigthill)

    Sorry… hit send early…

When I got to the templates there is no ?‘give_forms-template-default’?

I wish I could cut and paste a screen shot so you could see this.

    Hey @craigthill

To be honest – it sounds like GiveWP have that template as part of their plugin – specifically for the standalone donation pages. It may be that they haven’t updated things (yet) to be compatible with block themes.

I’d recommend reaching out to GiveWP’s support to ask them for further assistance – as it only seems to be effecting the pages generated by their plugin.

Hi… I would like to ask again:

In your response you have a line:

     – https://oycyf.org/donations/a-form-with-incorrect-header shows as using a template called ‘give_forms-template-default’

Where do you see “a template called ‘give_forms-template-default’ ” ?

When I go to that page and select “Edit Site I get the site editor showing a single post template showing the correct header.

Hi @craigthil – apologies for missing that first time around.

Where do you see “a template called ‘give_forms-template-default’?” ?

This wasn’t something I could see in the admin/editor – but when viewing the site as a visitor and viewing the HTML Source it includes some code on the <body> tag which indicates the template.

    <body class="give_forms-template-default single single-give_forms postid-11937 wp-custom-logo wp-embed-responsive give-recurring">
