Global discount working?

  • Just updated to the new discount plugin, thanks for making the recent updates. Nice to know you are still involved!

    What exactly is the Globally applicable discount entail? It doesn’t seem to make a difference in my situation, perhaps I don’t understand it.

    I have a discount for different quantities, for the more you buy, the more you save approach.

    Here’s what I would like, if it’s possible:
    A. Customer purchases 5 units of item X,
    2 units of item Y,
    3 units of item Z,

    B. Right now, it works using 3 different discounts and I want a combined discount for 10 units of mix and match items.

    QUESTIONS:
    1. How can I solve this using the plugin?
    2. The plugin only allows 5 different discounts, I want a discount for each number of items purchased.
    2 units = discount A,
    3 units = discount B.
    4 unites = discount C,
    5 units = discount D,
    6 units = discount E.
    So right now customers are maxing the cart out with 6 items, for the 5th highest discount available.

    Mixing of discounts as you describe is not possible – it would be really challenging to make it easy and so flexible. I just added a shortcut to set the bulk discount for all the products at once. This helps if you have lots of products and you want to set the same discount for all the products quickly on one place.

    So you create a kind of a template product with hidden visibility (so that customers don’t see it), you name this product wc_bulk_discount_configurer and you set the bulk discount lines as in any other products. If such a product with this name exists in the store, WooCommerce Bulk Discount will then apply the configured discount for all the products in the cart.

    I have 2 products, I’d like to have customers get the discount when they mix them together.

    So with this template, a customer can order item X and item Y to get the discount rate for buying 2 items?

    Even though they are not the same product?
    (example: 1 orange and 1 apple)

    Is there any documentation on setting this up? I’m not familiar with template products, let alone ones that are hiding! ??

    You can always set discount per product, so that product X has different discount settings than product Y.
    Global discount as introduced in version 2.4.0 is a shortcut for those who want to set the same discount on all products globally so that product X will have the same discount parameters (quantity and % discount) as product Y.

    Sounds like it’s possible to do what I’m after?

    same discount setting for product x and product y.

    purchase 1 x and 1 y, and obtain the discount for 2 units of product?
