I’ve been using WordPress as a CMS for a while now on a few sites (and love it), but I’m looking to take the next step with it.

Up until now, I’ve been hard-coding my Global Navs into either the header or sidebar. I’d like to start managing this via a plugin. Anyone have any recommendations before I start installing plugins?

NAVT seems like the logical place to start, but as I said, I’m just curious about the experience of others there? Particularly around the topic of 2nd and 3rd level navigation.

    Thanks so much.

I did select NAVT too. I want to use it for blocks of external links. With the default “Links” module all categories are displayed below eachother. I do not want that. I want to have one block of external links, then something else, then another block with external links. NAVT can do this. BUT: it is not working properly. When I add another list sometimes one of the other lists disappear.

So my experiences with NAVT are not that positive.

I am also interested in alternatives.

I’ve had a similar issue with navigation groups. I had only two groups, and one of them just disappeared. I’m using version 1.0.31 with WP 2.7.1. I intend to report the issue, but I’d like to identify some kind of pattern or trigger first.
