Global option: Images/videos use LightBox of Gutenslider or of 3rd party plugin

PROBLEM:

• Per Gutenslider block instance one has the option: ?? Enable Lightgallery on image and video slides
• Your website uses images and videos in different blocks. Some in native image and video blocks. Others within Gutenslider.

GOAL:

• You want all images on your WordPress to (optionally) open in the same site-wide LightBox.

• Either all in Gutenslider’s LightBox.

• Or all in a 3rd party LightBox, e.g Lightbox with PhotoSwipe.

PROPOSAL:

I) WordPress → Settings → Gutenslider

Currently (the free version at least) contains only info, no options. Add these options:

LightBox: [ Offer GutenSlider's own LightGallery ? ]

Offers these choices and the respective UI hints (first indented bullet) and my remarks (following bullet(s)):

1) Offer GutenSlider’s own LightGallery

• Toggle it on/off per each Gutenslider instance.
• Current behavior. Remains default option.

2) Offer own + 3rd party LightGallery

• Per each Gutenslider instance decide which one to use: None, Own, Foreign.

3) Enforce 3rd party LightBox by linking to Media File

• All media elements within Gutensliders get wrapped into a HTML <a> element pointing to the underlying media file. A 3rd party LightBox plugin can easily intercept all of those kind.

4) Enforce 3rd party LightBox by linking to Attachment Page

• All media elements within Gutensliders get wrapped into a HTML <a> element pointing to the respective media attachment page. A 3rd party LightBox plugin can easily intercept all of those kind.

5) Enforce GutenSlider’s own LightGallery

?? for all media/images in all Gutenslider block instances
?? for all image blocks [ by linking them to their media file ? ] | … page
?? for all video blocks [ by linking them to their media page ? ] | … file

• Hint texts to be discussed if you say that feature is even interesting to you.

II) Inspector → LightGallery

Dependent from the global LightBox option, it looks like this:

1) Offer GutenSlider’s own LightGallery

?? Enable Lightgallery on image and video slides
Lightgallery is only visible in frontend

2) Offer own + 3rd party LightGallery

LightBox: [ None ? ]
Show images/videos of your slides inline only.

or

LightBox: [ Gutenslider’s own LightGallery ? ]
Images/videos open in LightGallery. Only works in frontend.

or

LightBox: [ 3rd party Lightbox ? ]
Images/videos open with 3rd party plugin by the method set at:
WordPress → Settings → Gutenslider → Lightbox

3) Enforce 3rd party LightBox by linking to Media File
As you have set at: WordPress → Settings → Gutenslider → Lightbox
All videos/images in all Gutenslider blocks link to their corresponding Media File. A 3rd party LightBox plugin can then easily identify and handle all those.

4) Enforce 3rd party LightBox by linking to Attachment Page
As you have set at: WordPress → Settings → Gutenslider → Lightbox
All videos/images in all Gutenslider blocks link to their corresponding Media Attachment Page. A 3rd party LightBox plugin can then easily identify and handle all those.

5) Enforce GutenSlider’s own LightGallery
Inspector UI and hints would be a mix of 3+4.
