    Hi there,

A recent update seems to have caused an issue with the admin bar. I have a user with multiple roles. Subscriber, Admin and Group Leader. If I check to disable the admin in the global settings for just one of those roles the bar is hidden even for users with multiples.

I have checked tried the plugin options “support multiple roles” option both on and off and the bar is still hidden regardless.

    Help.

  • Hey there,

I might have the same problem, as it seems.

I added custom roles via members plugin and am using BBpress, so I activated BBpress support on the plugin as well.

I disabled all menu options for the BBpress role Keymaster, while I left a few options to a role called “Autor”. If I visit the backend with a user which is having both roles (an only those!) now, it tells me, that I am having no access. The same happens, if I enable support for multiple roles.

    Here’s a setting example:

The user should be able to see the index page of the dashboard for example. But he doesn’t have access, neither if I enable or disbale multiple role support. The user should also be able to add new posts, which he can’t do as well.

In your screenshot have the role Keymaster and Abonnent a active hiding for Dashboard and Write Posts, so also the access to this pages. Have you tried this after deactivate this option?

    @smuglet
Have you this problem only on the Admin bar settings? How do you have active multiple roles, maybe also how you checked the roles on each user? The default of WP use no multiple roles.

    Hi @bueltge,

It was all fine. This is only in the global settings section. If I disable the admin bar for any one role (even though the user has multiple where I have not disabled it) the admin bar is hidden (front end and backend). So:

    – User has Role1, Role2, Role3.

Disable admin bar in global for Role3 and even though the user has the other roles where it is not disabled it vanishes. I’ve trawled the other setting in case I had a conflict but can’t see anything, especially as it was working.

    Thanks.

You should active the plugin option ‘Support Multiple Roles’ to support multiple roles. That should fixed your problem. Please try this.

    Thanks Frank.

I did try that before without joy. Will try it again.

It works in my test, I wait for your feedback before I will check it deeper. Please, if is not working, describe how you get the feature of multiple roles, which plugin or code? Also how you add this roles.

    Thanks Frank,

I’m doing some deeper digging, I think it might be a conflict of a few settings / role combinations. It’s possible I may need to figure out a way to control visibility with finer granularity than I can with my current setup.

You can only change the admin area with the input point of roles, not users or others with Adminimize. If you mean with ‘finer granularity’ an other point to change the areas of users, then no, only via his role.
