• I have a contact form that, when submitted, – sends to 5 people with Gmail addresses. Lately, it’s been reported that some received the form and others did not. In running 2 tests yesterday, none of the gmail people received the form. I put my own personal non-Gmail personal address on the form and I did receive it! One user reported that this seems to have started to happen maybe since the beginning of the month. The contact form is not used very much so it’s hard to say whether this has truly just started recently or it has been happening a lot earlier. The bottom line is that Gmail addresses are not getting the contact form but non-Gmail addresses are. My website runs on Bluehost.com and they think it is a Contact Form 7 plugin problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where can we see the website in question?

I had problems sending to gmail.com earlier this month. It was some sort of DNS issue as my server could not get the IP address of gmail. Restarting my DNS service fixed the problem.

Ask the tech support at your host to test if their DNS can see gmail, with command:

    dig gmail.com

If no IP address is returned, they need to resart their DNS service. Then gmail will be accessible.

Takayuki – Thank you for your response.

The website name is https://www.rmchoa.com. The home page is open to the public. However, a website registration is required to access any of the other pages in the top ribbon by logging in. Once logged in, the user can access the rest of the functionality including pressing “contact” to access the Contact Form 7 contact forms. Incidentally, I did a test yesterday and was able to see the contact form in my gmail account but it took about 12 hours to appear in my Gmail! As stated in the original post – on other previous tests the users and myself did not receive the gmail message at all. When I use my NON Gmail account – I always receive the message! Very puzzling!

G – Thank you for your response. I will ask Bluehost support to check if DNS can see Gmail as you suggested.

In doing research about this problem might it be smart to look into using a SMTP plugin to send the email? If so, I’ve read about “Easy WP SMTP” and “WP Mail SMTP”. Do you have any experience with these plugins (or others) and whether they actually work?
