GMAIL SMTP PLUGIN – Can't send test email…

  • The SMTP Status is “Connected”. The button is green.

    …Yet when I try to send the test message I get the error below. I have tried all the “troubleshooting” steps from the “how to” page.

    That is, I have changed the SMTP port to 465 with SSL encryption.
    I have also changed it to port 25 with TLS first and then SSL. Still can’t send the test email.

    Here is the error I get:

    Connection: opening to ssl://smtp.gmail.com:465, timeout=300, options=array ()
SMTP ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Network is unreachable (101)
SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting
Mailer Error: SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting

    Any other troubleshooting ideas?
