I’ve been doing ecommerce sites for almost 20 years. I live in Minnesota. EVERY check out form I have ever used allows me to tab to the state field. I hit m about 5 times and it goes to Minnesota. Now it doesn’t even accept the first key stroke. The first key stroke is needed to activate the drop box. And then I have relearn 20 years worth of typing that I used to be able to do in seconds to fill out a silly form when I’m testing/using a site.

I’m not sure I’m following. When I tab through the checkout form, I’m able to start typing the name of the state and it comes up for me.

It looks like this in action: https://cld.wthms.co/GrpPlq

Could you possibly have another plugin that effects checkout that’s causing something to malfunction?

I don’t want to type Minnesota.

The old style select box did not let you type the name. You just typed the first letter of an item and if there were more than 1 with that letter you just hit that first letter multiple times. For Minnesota its usually 5 or 6 times and then its selected. The new approach with typing actually adds extra key strokes and is slower.

Its not a plugin or theme. And actually….now that I look closer at the code it doesn’t even have a proper select box and its using the default wordpress form.

We need a regular old fashion select box!

    Hi @graftedin,

The state field uses a jQuery plugin called SelectWoo. It’s a fork of the select2 plugin.

You’re welcome to remove that script and style from the site if you’d like to. I found a tutorial showing how to do that here:

    https://mikeisthebest.com/how-to-remove-select2-woocommerce/

You might give that a try and see if works more to your liking without that.

    Best,
