Godaddy domain with WP on other host.. subpages issue!

    I am really new to WordPress and I have just started to produce a blog and learn more as I go. I have a 12 month hosting service on ecowebhosting.co.uk (promo deal) and successfully installed WP through the cPanels CGI script.. I also run Filezilla and can with ease connect to the database and change whatever is needed. When I installed WP I got a “temporary” domain such as https://xx.xxx.xx.xx/mydomain.com/.. this is for the moment also the Site URL and the WordPress URL under dashboard settings.

    Later on, I bought a domain on GoDaddy and I successfully changed the nameservers to the ones that I got from my host provider. At the moment, others can view the site via browser with the new domain i.e. https://www.mydomain.com but when I try the same I get a blank white page (on my home network, using a phone with 3g I can also see the website.

    Now, I made my first blogpost and I published it.. however, the permalink for the post does not work because it points to e.g. https://www.mydomain.com/%postname% whereas the post is actually still on the https://xx.xxx.xx.xx/mydomain.com/%postname%… so my question is as follows: How can I make so that my subpages on my domain also use the newly bought domain from GoDaddy, instead of the temporary WP install gave me?

  • You may have two potential issues. The first is that you probably just need to wait for the DNS changes to propagate through your local ISP (which can take a while, especially if you’re on a campus or have a small service provider). If it works properly over 3G, though, it should eventually work everywhere.

    The second issue, if I’m understanding correctly, could be related to the above or you might simply need to update your site location in MySQL using PHPMyAdmin (e.g. see in wp_options table: site_url and home).
