• I’ve tried searching these forums for an answer to this problem to no avail.

I set up a wordpress.com blog and then mapped a godaddy domain to the blog. All well and good.

But I decided to change to a self managed www.ads-software.com blog, and thus purchased the godaddy wordpress hosting package.

I installed wordpress on the domain and got an email saying that the installation was successful, but when i log into [blogname].com/wp-admin it is still the dashboard for the wordpress.com site, rather than www.ads-software.com.

All i want to do is use my godaddy domain with a www.ads-software.com installation. Given that I have purchased godaddy’s wordpress hosting, how do I go about this?

    Any help much appreciated ??

You next need to map your domain to the self-hosting servers. But if you might first want to develop the new site, your host should be able to help you with a temporary URL to use until you make the switch.

Hi @obligatory, I work at GoDaddy. Happy to help. Are you running cPanel self-hosted WordPress, or Managed WordPress?

@ccarfi. If i buy an hosting account through “web hosting” then will i be getting the “install wordpress” option in thee cpanel? I mean will i be able to use the www.ads-software.com from there?

@bigrambo – If you want to use www.ads-software.com and manage the system/server yourself, yes, you can do that by picking a web hosting package. Additionally, if you want an easier experience with the www.ads-software.com approach, you may also want to check out the Managed WordPress options. (Managed WordPress is still www.ads-software.com, but we handle caching, core upgrades, and a bunch of other bits.)

i hope that will help me
